Empat Speech Branding and Web Design

Empat Health is a startup offering pediatric speech therapy, both directly to consumers(families) and business-to-business (working with schools). The company makes therapy accessible to families, automates admin tasks for therapists, helps schools fill positions, and provides games that children can use to practice between sessions. The product has been successful with direct-to-consumer clients, and the startup is focusing on securing partnerships with schools to scale.

We worked on a branding and design system to position Empat Speech as a reputable solution for speech therapy. The challenge was developing a brand and design system that supports the current goals but can be scalable and adaptable, allowing the founders to expand or adjust their brand as the product evolves. While the designs are appropriate for children, the main goal is to secure the business needed for growth and the target audience is parents and guardians, therapists, and school representatives.

Process

I met with the partners to understand their needs and come up with the overall strategy: to produce a brand and design system that could help them position themselves as a reputable company. As the product is still evolving, the new new brand was optimized for sales. I then researched the company material, met with the partners, and the competition, to understand the product and their audience. I summarized the findings in a list of key messaging, user personas, empathy maps, a competitive landscape analysis.

With a clear vision and an understanding of the product, the market, and the needs, started with the design. I produced a few moodboards to define the visual directions I would explore, the proceeded to sketch by hand followed by digital sketches.

I went on to crate designs for compositions, applications, and website. I presented two initial concepts to the client and we iterated a couple of times to finalize the designs.
